A FABULOUS Wine And A FABULOUS Gift!

Sitting back at night and enjoying a crisp glass of my beloved Chardonnay is one of my favorite parts of the day and recently I've been crushing on a FABULOUS one... Smokepoint Chardonnay.  I was introduced to it last summer by a friend who gifted me a bottle and it is everything I look for in a Chardonnay. With palate components of lemon and hazelnut it has a distinctive flavor that begs to be sipped and enjoyed with all of the yummy tapas on my Summer menu.

My friend who gifted me the bottle just happens to be lucky enough to be married to Meggan Sorensen, the beautiful blond responsible for giving New Craft Cellars life. She along with her cousin founded the company in 2006 with the goal of making premium wine in close relationship with winemakers and grape growers from all over the world.

As you may have realized by now, if I'm touting a wine, I promise you will love it. I am ultra picky about what I drink. I believe calories are to be exclusively wasted on decadent desserts and delicious cocktails and wine...period.

After first trying it my first thought was "I have to share this." After all, that's what this blog is all about...me sharing things that I think are divinely fabulous. So, lucky you, I called my friend and asked him if he'd consider doing a little promo code for my readers and he agreed! Yay! 30% off!

Tonight I'll be having it with BBQed salmon, quinoa salad and watermelon...yumm!

He has agreed to keep the promo going until July 4th so hurry-hurry. Again, I promise you'll LOVE it  because it's FABULOUS!

I Promise This Gift Will Make Dad Happy!

Every time I go to buy a Father's Day present I feel stumped. The men in my life are the type that just go and buy something when they need it so gift giving is definitely more along the lines of something fun or something they aren't familiar with. Luckily ,this year I found the perfect choice.

I'm not sure how many of you are rye whiskey drinkers out there, but I'm willing to bet there are more this year than there were last year. I recently read an article about how the spirit is growing, and after tasting Corbin Cash Rye Whiskey...I get it. It's just flat out amazing. After having a taste, I immediately wanted to grab a Baccarat lowball glass and pour it over ice while sitting in some dark, sexy cocktail lounge, and discussing nothing important yet everything intriguing. Now, blink your eyes, come back to Earth and realize you can have this experience in a bottle...and not just any bottle, but a fabulous beveled bottle you will want to leave out for guest's to see and save when it's empty....because it will be empty faster than you think!

Also, this isn't your grandpa's whiskey. It's made in small batches and has notes of spice and vanilla with a lingering sweet finish. It's beyond perfect as a Father's Day gift. Just imagine how sentimental your dad or beau will get after a few glasses on the rocks?

I'm almost hesitant to tell you I grew up in the same small town as David John Souza, the master mind behind this relatively new line of spirits because I don't want you to think I'm being bias. Bias I am not, and regretfully I admit I'm ridiculously picky. However, I can't always be humble and I think for the sake of suggesting you buy something, my selective nature makes me a ringer for gift buying suggestions.

Every product that comes from the Souza Family Farm and on-site distillery is made and grown with meticulous attention to detail and care. That is what makes it so special.

With that said, there will be more fun blogs coming on Fridays where I'll share more of Corbin's spirits in recipes I've concocted. Just wait for my Coconut-Chia Seed Pudding, it's healthy, DELISH, and has a kick to it.  I'll also be sharing cocktails that'll be perfect for your summer soirées. Stay tuned and I highly recommend that you get a bottle of this limited whiskey for dad...I promise he'll love it!

Summer Smoothie!

Sometimes I think May and June are busier than December. My mom's birthday is in June along with anniversaries and graduations. Then to top off the party packed weekends there are end-of-the-school-year and impromptu summer parties. It seems like my calendar and tummy are more full than I can handle. Unlike most people who put on inches during the holidays I feel like I have more trouble during the summer. Just give me an ice cold glass of Chardonnay on a hot summer day and all diet inhibitions go out the window along with a total lack of portion control. Yes, there is such a thing as too much crudité, and when dipped in guacamole and cheese it's my kryptonite. I won't even start taking about ice-cream either...I can literally name flavors and brands blind folded!

I decided to take control of this problem before we got too deep into summer and adjust a few things I've been doing because I've noticed my self control waning and summer is just getting started!

I've gone back to having breakfast smoothies and today's didn't disappoint. I'll be sharing some easy summer recipes but for starters, below is a smoothie recipe I hope you'll enjoy!

Berry Kale Banana Smoothie

1/2 banana

1 cup of unsweetened almond milk

1 cup of blueberries

1/2 cup of frozen kale

1 teaspoon of honey

1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

Blend and enjoy!

Cheers!
