FABULOUS Chevron Floors!

Black and white checkered marble floors are timeless and bold but have you ever considered how amazing a chevron pattern would look? The pattern is actually more inviting and I think it's the perfect current take on an old classic.....

Why I Never Deviate From These 5 FABULOUS Nail Colors.

I actually didn't know I was doing this deliberately until I went to Nordstrom one day and saw a few shades of polish that brought out an inner revolt. They were the hottest colors of the season and I hated them. To me they looked... dare I say, tacky. Please tell me you have all thought this at one time or another, please? I just couldn't pull the trigger. I had to obey the inner side of me that dominates my every vain decision and pass them up. Now, I just know, unless a polish is a shade of Red, Pink, Nude, Noir or Clear...forget it.

Here are the 5 shades I think are always FABULOUS!

1. Clear

A coat of clear gives your nails a polished and sophisticated look with out being "over done". I like to use Butter, Hoarse Power. It's strengthening and it doesn't look too shiny, rather it gives your nails a healthy glow.

With that said, there is a time and place for shiny natural nails and these are my favorites.

2. Nude

I love nude nails. During the fall I prefer a truer-to-my-skin-tone nude and a deeper shade of bronze during the summer. It is subtle, chic and goes with every lip color and outfit choice.

3. Red

Nothing is hotter than a glossy red nail. I especially love the classic look of a matching nail and lip. I think this combination is overlooked and adds a certain polish to a formal look. During the holidays is may seem cliché to have red nails but to me it is fun. Also, a deep shade of red with a LBD is just downright sexy!

4. Pink

Pink is soft and reminds me of spring. It can also be bold and pop.  Pink nails with a floral dress is romantic feminine.  I don't mind being girly but for those of you who don't, think about how edgy black and gold jewelry could compliment a buff pink nail.

5. Noir

This is my go to color. I love how sophisticated it looks. It works on all skin tones, always looks chic (the word chic must have a image of dark nail accompanied by a monochromatic outfit if you google it!).  But warning, if it chips nothing, I mean nothing looks worse.

What makes Almond Milk so FABULOUS?

I've been allergic to dairy since I was born. I've tried to have a little here and there but it never works out well. Despite knowing this, my addiction to coffee dominated my better judgment and I used non-fat milk for years before finally substituting it with almond milk.  Instantly I was shocked at how positively it impacted my daily diet. Here's why it's so FABULOUS.

1. Almond milk has the good fat, omega 3's. In other words it will satisfy your appetite.

I eat a late breakfast so I need a little something extra in my coffee besides sugar (which I think of as the white devil) to get me through the morning chaos without feeling famished. Almond milk has just enough fat and carbs to keep me satisfied. Just think, these are the calories that are worth their weight in gold.

2. Almond milk is good for your skin.

Dairy can sometimes cause breakouts (the bane of my existence). I was shocked when I heard this from my facial lady but I didn't listen to her. After all, what was I suppose to put in my coffee? It wasn't until I cut out dairy completely that I saw the difference.....and what a pleasant surprise it was.

3. It has more calcium than regular milk.

This is huge. I think calcium is something we can take for granted. Since calcium is in many foods it may be easy to assume you're getting enough but it's not that easy. Calcium supplements are also not full proof as sometimes it is difficult for our body to absorb them if they are not ingested properly. Osteoporosis and osteoarthritis are better prevented rather than treated. Plus, brittle bones are not part of the plan for the active senior life I have planned.

4. Almond Milk has high levels of antioxidants.

I'm all about prevention and if I can drink something I like and it's good for me then it's a no brainer. Antioxidants help fight aging and I don't just mean staving off premature wrinkles. Although that's a huge plus...I'm actually referring to the aging of our internal organs. Even though we can't see them we still have to take care of them. Antioxidants have also been proven to prevent many types of cancer. I can't think of anything better than that!

5. Almond Milk is great for cooking.

I usually substitute milk for water when I bake but now I've recently started using almond milk and the flavor is subtle yet noticeable in a very yummy way. Sky is the limit here.

*Bonus.

-I think Almond Milk tastes better.

-Almond Milk stays fresh longer than regular cow's milk.

-There are no antibiotics to worry about being in it.

-Be sure to buy a brand that uses non GMO almonds, no added sugar (corn syrup),  carrageenan ( a thickener derived from seaweed) or preservatives.

Are Skinny Jeans still FABULOUS for Spring? Here's the Skinny...

We can all thank fashion-genius Rachel Zoe for the 70's fashion revival. Bellbottoms are back in a big way and I'm thrilled. They make a major fashion statement and the correct cut and fit can work for most of us, but where does that leave the skinny? Upon hearing the first peep that skinnies might be out I did some hard-core-scientific research. First I got an almond milk latté then I started to dig deep to get to the bottom of it.  I interviewed women, scoured magazines and read the latest articles on the subject. I even hit the pavement and went to boutiques and major department stores. The list goes on and on and the only conclusion I came to after pouring through data for hour upon hour, is that they are here to stay...Thank the heavens because I just bought a pair of Hudson's.

So how have they changed? The answer is simple, they haven't... but what you pair them with has. Say goodbye to the Dolman a la 2010 and embrace the hippie chic and disco queen-era we have just entered. It may sound scary but I promise if you look in your closet you'd be surprised how easy it is to update your skinnies and keep them FABULOUS!
